As you have probably heard by now, This Boelter Family closed on a house last Friday! Crazy, right? We feel very lucky to have found such a great place at a good price in the neighborhood we have come to love (the new house is about 3 blocks away from our apartment). We're trying to get some painting and stuff done before we move in, but we are so excited, and really can't wait to live here. Here are a couple of pics taken with the phone on a recent shuttle run:
If you're not familiar with the Southampton neighborhood of South St. Louis City, here are a couple of good reads:
- St. Louis City Talk's article on Southampton is truly exhaustive, with lots of detailed demographic, historical, and commercial info about the neighborhood, along with dozens of photographs of homes, businesses, streets, churches, schools, etc.
- St. Louis Magazine's 2007 profile of Southampton is a quick, fun read. It's biased—written by a SoHa resident—but gives you a little insight as to why people like living here.
- Southampton was also chosen by The Riverfront Times as "Best Place to Live" in their "Best of St. Louis 2009" issue.
And Louis (who now, at 13 months, has 10 teeth and took 3 steps today!) is looking forward to living there, too!
(We know you only come here for the baby pictures...)
